About
The Amazing Alpha Omicron Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. was chartered on December 29, 1944, by seven distinguished women: Soror Mary Carter, a Past Southwestern Regional Syntaktes, Soror Maudies Baker, Soror Juanita Hall, Soror Lurlean Hillard, Soror Myrtle Joiner, Soror Lillie Jones, and Soror Illistene Webster.
Today, the chapter proudly advises three undergraduate chapters across North Texas: Gamma Iota at Paul Quinn College, Mu Zeta at East Texas A&M University, and Upsilon Mu at the University of North Texas at Dallas. In addition, Alpha Omicron Sigma provides guidance and mentorship to three affiliate groups: the Rhosebud Club, Rhoer Club, and Philo Affiliates.
Alpha Omicron Sigma continues its tradition of excellence through award-winning programming and documentation. Most recently, the chapter was recognized with the Best Scrapbook Award at the 85th Southwestern Regional Conference in 2025, further reflecting its commitment to preserving the rich history and legacy of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
